Sean and I took the time a couple of weeks ago to sit down and really dig into the nitty gritty details of Poly Cystic Ovarian Syndrome. Β It was a delightful interview and I encourage anyone interested in female hormones to take a listen.
In it we discuss the primary causes of PCOS and why it causes infertility, the different impacts of PCOS on overweight and underweight women, what I believe the different types of PCOS are, why women suffer health problems such as depression, anxiety, acne, and gut issues at twice the rate of men, and what hormones are necessary for a raging female libido.

Hi Stefani! I’ve read the PCOS Unlocked Manual (which is excellent, btw!) and have a question – what are your thoughts on PCOS possibly being, in some cases anyway, an autoimmune disorder? I’ve read some studies that theorize that in at least 1/3 of instances, PCOS is likely an autoimmune condition. Personally, I would agree with this and have long suspected that my PCOS fits more closely with this than anything else (going by the categories you describe, symptoms wise, I am most similiar to Type II PCOS although, I do not/have not undereaten/over-exercised/etc…if anything, I over-ate in the past). Anyway, I found out a while ago I have food allergies to gluten and eggs…I can’t help but wonder if this sort of life-long systemic inflammation perhaps triggered an autoimmune response (like on my ovaries or somewhere else in my endochrine system)…thoughts?? Thanks π
Such a great interview! I was finally able to listen to it while traveling to pick up my bulk foods order. It was a great look into PCOS and inspirational to keep eating and living the way I am. π
